Blown Alcohol Displacement Race Boat
Nelson Bay’s Australian Offshore Powerboat
Champion Bruce Sanders is heading for the calm waters of circuit
powerboat racing, with his new 18ft 6 Childsplay circuit race
boat.
“Racing a boat that is designed to handle enormous speeds
in calm waters represents a complete transformation for my driving
skills,” Bruce explains.
The new Red Bellies circuit race boat is powered by a twin-turbo
charged concept engine developed by J.T Autogas in Newcastle,
and is capable of reaching 195 km/h (120 mph).
Bruce Sanders is looking forward to the challenge of adapting
to the new format boat, which will be prepared from Red Bellies
Racing’s new Newcastle race headquarters.
“This is one heck of a race boat, producing 1200 horsepower
and capable of doing around 120 miles per hour,” he said.
“It’s something that I have always wanted to do,
but I respect the forces that will challenge us on the way.
“Like our offshore boat, the circuit version shall be designed
to run fast all day long. Consistency is our strength, and with
the engine sponsor dedicated to creating horsepower and reliability,
we are looking forward to some serious racing.
“You have to be there at the finish to win. If we achieve
massive top speeds with the new design and are able to maintain
the engines - instead of turning them into spaghetti - a successful
season should be the result”
